The feature described in this article apply to the following servers;
/server pve
/server random
Quick Start
- Use
/pvp on
to enable PvP combat.
- Use
/pvp off
to disable PvP combat.
- PvP only works on worlds with a non-peaceful difficulty.
- PvP doesn't work in admin-protected regions.
- PvP within town claimed areas can be controlled by town mayors with
/t toggle pvp
.
- Having
/pvp on
does not mean griefing, trolling, and or stealing are allowed.
- Keep inventory is still on. Killing a player will not cause their items to drop.
- Formal duels work the same as before. The server will automatically set PvP preferences when entering and leaving matches.
What is Toggleable PvP
Player's have the ability to control if, when, and where they whish to participate in PvP. By default PvP is off when you join the server. Some players may wish to fight sometimes, some may wish to fight all of the time, some may wish to not fight at all. Keep inventory is still enabled regardless of PvP combat preferences. Killing another player will not drop their items.
All server rules still apply regardless of PvP combat settings. Griefing, stealing, and or trolling is never tolerated on our survival servers. Further, any attempt to shame, coherence, trick, or otherwise force someone into PvP combat will be seen as griefing and dealt with accordingly.
What Controls PvP
PvP combat is controlled by three conditions and all three conditions must be met by all players attempting to participate in combat:
- Players must be in a world that allows for PvP combat
- Players must be in an unclaimed area, or in a claimed area that has PvP enabled.
- Players must have their PvP combat preference set to
on
.
Again, all three conditions must be met for PvP combat to occur. For example, if two players are in a town with PvP enabled, but the player's have not used the /pvp on
command, PvP won't work. Further, if both player's where in a town with PvP disabled and neither of them had not used the /pvp on
command, PvP would not work then either.
World
PvP is disabled in peaceful worlds and there is no way to override this. Only worlds with a non-peaceful difficulty allow PvP combat.
Claim Regions
PvP is disabled in all admin-protected areas. This includes spawns and all of the /warp
s. These settings can not be overridden.
PvP can be toggled in Towny regions. Town mayors can use /t toggle pvp
to enable or disable PvP in their town borders. By default, PvP will be off in town claimed areas. When you move between Towny claimed areas, a message will appear above the hotbar indicating which will indicate whether PvP is enabled in this region or not.
If a town is subdivided into plots, plot owners can opt to enable or disable PvP on their claimed plots with /plot toggle pvp
. For PvP combat to work, players must toggle their individual combat settings. Towny and World Guard regions can not force combat if players have their PvP preferences set to off.
PvP Toggle Command
Player's can toggle PvP combat with /pvp on
and /pvp off
. Use /pvp status
to check your PvP combat status. For combat to work, both player's fighting must have their PvP preference set to enabled. This protection extends to melee attacks - swords, axes, punching, etc - as well as ranged attacks - arrows, crossbows, potions, etc.
Dueling
The dueling system is separate from the PvP toggling system. Formal /duel
requests will work normally. PvP will automatically be enabled when entering a duel and the player's PvP preferences will be automatically restored to whatever they were before the duel once it ends.
