Hello Catnoblade, after reviewing the relevant chat logs, I have decided to reduce your (and GamingAJ657's) ban to 24 hours. This decision is based on your contribution to the grief, your appeal, the chat logs, your player history, and my confidence that these actions will not be repeated. Your ban will end at 9:14pm MDT on 1 May 2021.
In the future, be very careful when helping others destroy builds. It is your responsibility to know that in breaking a build you are not griefing. While it wasn't clear that the request for help in destroying the shop was actually a solicitation to grief, there were multiple clues and hints that the shop did not belong to the user (I quickly began talking to the user in question because I thought his chat messages and behavior were suspicious). In the end, you chose to break part of someone else's shop, which IS, by definition, griefing.
There are real-world lessons to take from this as well. The same situation (being an accessory to a crime) can happen when you unknowingly help someone break the law. If somebody claiming to work at a bookstore was boxing all of the books, would you help them carry the box out to their car? It's not clear that they are stealing, but you could still be liable if you helped. Of course, no real life crime is even as remotely inconsequential as Minecraft, but this is something to ponder and that I thought of in consideration of your ban.
This is in no way a final decision. Because I am the staff member that banned you and merely a moderator, the staff team will review and may decide to overturn or lengthen your ban. If so, you will be contacted by an admin or another moderator. I hope this reply adequately explains the reasoning behind my ban and I also hope to see you return to PCN Saturday night!
